Elkenson

look where others don’t

WHAT WE DO

Our team conducts applied research and builds tools to help our clients understand the world and make decisions. Our strategy is to look for signals in non-traditional data sources to anticipate emerging risks and opportunities.

Through a combination of research, software, and analytical support, we make hard-to-access information easier to find, understand, and act on.

Research & ENGINEERING

Currently, our applied research focuses on reading signals embedded in technologies such as apps and interpreting their code to learn how firms, markets, and countries are evolving. Our engineering team develops custom tooling that enables our clients to carry out their own investigations at speed and scale, rather than at the pace of quarterly reports.

About Elkenson

Interdisciplinary EXPERTISE

We develop tools and methods suited to each problem. Rather than applying a fixed framework, we adapt our approach to the system, question, and context at hand. Our team brings together complementary expertise from across law, computer science, OSINT, history, translation, and software development

OUR GOAL

Our work is guided by a single goal: to reduce the “one-way mirror effect” by helping analysts better understand hard-to-access information environments obscured by language, cultural, and technical barriers.

To accomplish this goal, we are developing research methods and software that make overlooked information easier to access, interpret, and act on. We also build tools that support language acquisition for English-speaking analysts.

Our Services

Supported by donations, Elkenson provides a range of freely available research tools to support the public interest.

These tools help researchers, analysts, and organizations explore systems and signals without cost or restriction.

Open-Access Tools

Tools

Not all problems fit existing tools. Elkenson designs and builds software for specific use cases to help analysts across situations.

Research Analysis

Research Analysis

Elkenson was founded in response to a recurring problem across research and industry: the most valuable information is often available but difficult to access, interpret, or act on due to bureaucracy, language gaps, and technical complexity. Those barriers do not just slow understanding; they delay innovation and leave important signals underused.

Our ambition is to ensure that what happens today is understood tomorrow, without waiting for it to be filtered through traditional outlets and pipelines.

We conduct applied research while building and deploying our own tools and methods to produce actionable understanding for both technical and non-technical clients, including researchers, analysts, advisors, and industry decision-makers.

Where we can, we provide access to our tools and services at no cost to support the public interest, ensuring valuable insights remain available to a broad range of stakeholders. For those without the time or capacity, our consulting services can help translate complex systems into clear, usable insights.

Our History and Mission

Our Team

Elkenson brings together an expert multidisciplinary team with experience across law, software engineering, open-source intelligence, and policy analysis.

This breadth allows us to approach complex systems from multiple angles, technical, legal, and strategic, ensuring a more complete understanding of the environments we study.

We value range over uniformity. Different perspectives allow us to identify patterns, risks, and opportunities that are often missed within more narrowly defined teams.

Careers

We are continually looking to work with individuals who bring strong skills, unique perspectives, and varied professional experience. Our team is built on a multidisciplinary approach, and we welcome those who can contribute to that breadth.

If you feel aligned with our work, we would be glad to hear from you.
